We founded Barbara Weiss Architects in 1987, and have spent decades cultivating a reputation for architecture that is simple, elegant and timeless, designed to feel as though it was always meant to exist within its context. Our practice is intensely sensitive to context, and we are obsessive about refining plan form, proportions, natural light and material selection to ensure every detail is thoughtfully considered. This meticulous approach results in wholly bespoke buildings that are tailored precisely to each clients requirements and site characteristics. We provide an exceptionally personal service, rooted first and foremost in listening to clients to understand their essential needs and refine their aspirations. We then expertly steer each project through every stage of the design and implementation process, supporting clients through the endless decision-making required to bring a building to life. We believe that successful working relationships are vital to the success of all construction projects, and we prioritise building long-term, trusted partnerships with all our collaborators.
Many of our clients, contractors and consultants have worked with us for more than two decades, demonstrating the strength of these long-term relationships. Repeat business and word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied clients continue to account for the majority of our new project enquiries. Although our base is in London, we have delivered projects across the UK and as far afield as Los Angeles, drawing on the international perspective of our leadership team. Our current team of 10 includes a high proportion of women, a wide range of nationalities, and a part-time office cocker spaniel, fostering a diverse and welcoming working environment. Our founder and director Barbara Weiss has a career spanning practice and advocacy, with a consistent commitment to design excellence and a thoughtful approach to the built environment. We are dedicated to supporting the next generation of architects, mentoring through the Social Mobility Foundation and tutoring sixth-form students via The Access Project.
