Transforming Heritage, Protecting the Past, Enriching the Present

Established in 1996, Nicholas Warns Architects has grown into the award-winning conservation practice that we are today. At the heart of our service is an uncompromising commitment to our clients. As a small and friendly team, we work together to ensure that every client is supported throughout their project. Our practice is led by Nicholas Warns, who has extensive experience in historic building repairs.

Our Approach

We understand that every client is unique, and we approach each project with a customized approach. We believe that collaboration is key to delivering high-quality results. We work closely with our clients to understand their requirements, setting out the services we can provide and the associated fees. A detailed programme with dates for delivery is issued once accepted, and an architect is appointed to communicate with our clients throughout the project and ensure that any agreed changes are accommodated.

Expertise

Our team consists of highly qualified and experienced architects, working in collaboration with a network of skilled conservation builders, traditional craftsmen, and artists. We have excellent specialist knowledge of traditional materials, including leadwork, stone, and flint, stained glass and metalwork, pantiles and brick, lime mortar, and decorative plaster. We also have extensive knowledge of historic building techniques and the use of innovative technologies to enhance the preservation and restoration of heritage buildings.

Leadership

As the Director of the practice, Nicholas Warns advises on the care, repair, and sensitive alteration of heritage buildings and the conservation of monuments, including their works of art. He is an active Trustee of the National Churches Trust and a member of the Architects Registration Board. Nicholas has more than 25 years of experience in conservation architecture and has worked with leading architectural practices in London and East Anglia.

Team

Our team is led by Nicholas Warns, with Samuel Roe acting as Architectural Assistant. Samuel is currently studying for his Part 2 at the Norwich University of Arts. We also have Kelly Kay, our Secretary, who provides key administrative support and assists with organizing meetings, visits, and surveys.

Awards and Recognition

We have received numerous accolades, including the Angel Awards, for our work in conservation architecture. Our commitment to preserving Britain's heritage is recognized and respected within the industry.
