We are Gary Johns Architects, an award-winning practice established in 2009 by our director Gary Johns. Gary holds 24 years of post-qualification architectural experience, with over 30 years of total experience working across the construction industry on projects ranging from one-off bespoke homes to energy-efficient offices and large-scale housing schemes. Since our formation, we have steadily grown our team to include a carefully selected group of talented professionals who work alongside Gary to uphold and advance the high-quality service our Practice is recognised for. We are based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, and primarily operate across East Anglia, though we welcome commissions from anywhere in the UK where we can deliver an effective, value-for-money service. All of our projects are delivered in line with our BS 9001 quality assurance system, which we adhere to regardless of a projects size or type. We require three core components to be defined before commencing any project: a clear client brief, a defined budget, and a realistic programme.
We take great pride in our ability to listen to clients and understand their requirements from the very outset of a project, offering expert guidance while always delivering a final design that aligns with the clients vision, rather than imposing our personal preferences. We treat budget understanding as a critical priority, and will never design a building that a client cannot afford to construct, flagging any concerns around brief deliverability within budget as soon as they become apparent. We support clients in setting a realistic project programme, and monitor progress against agreed milestones throughout the design and delivery process, proactively addressing potential delays to keep projects on track. Above all else, we value the long-term relationships we build with our clients, design teams and construction partners, and we believe our positive, collaborative team culture is reflected in the quality of the buildings we help to create.
