Why Choose an Architect?
Professionally qualified architects are the best placed people to ensure your project runs smoothly and you get the results you want. As well as producing drawings and production information for planning and building regulations approval, architects will provide all the information and services needed to guide you through the design and construction process, ensuring you are aware of your statutory obligations. For more complex projects, we often work with other specialists in the field, to draw on their wealth of experience, particularly in complex planning and conservation matters, to ensure that a first-class service can be provided. The reassurance offered by a professional architectural company such as HAL should not be underestimated.

About the Director: Pamela Stokes
Pamela Stokes is the Director of Hertfordshire Architects Ltd. She graduated from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff in 1995 with BSc Honours and Batchelor of Architecture. In 1999, she attended Southbank University, London, gaining her Professional practice examination. She has been a chartered member of RIBA and ARB registered architect since 1999.
Pamela's career started working at a County Council architect's department as a trainee architect. She then went on to work in the private sector up to associate director level in a medium-sized architectural practice. With over 20 years' experience as a qualified architect, she has worked nationally across the retail, commercial & domestic sectors, including works to listed buildings and within conservation areas. This has provided her with a solid foundation to inaugurate a local architects' practice.
The majority of the projects undertaken have involved working with domestic properties, predominantly extensions but also residential conversions and new builds. In addition to this, past projects in other sectors include: community facilities, such as sports clubs and the local church; hotel extension/refurbishment; barn conversion to holiday lets; developers shell retail unit and a light industrial unit.
Pamela loves the challenge of working with existing buildings, whether that be an extension or a conversion. She also has experience of working on listed buildings and within conservation areas. In 2021, she completed an RIBA Conservation Training Course to further develop her skills and understanding.
